Description (Service) | * Local Metis Nation of Ontario Community Council * provides a wide variety of services and programs to enhance the employability, quality of life, and well-being for the Metis and off reserve Ontario residents in the area * health services programs * public Internet access workstations * volunteer opportunities * offers information and applications for applying for a Metis Nation of Ontario citizenship and/or Harvesters card Services: Support and development of self-government institutions of Métis people Training Initiatives: * employment and training supports * educational assistance * job search support * resume assistance * metis training and employment programs and bursaries * wage subsidies * self-employment * internships * summer career placements Community Wellness Worker Program: * promotes family violence awareness and prevention * referrals * support * case management * address existing health and wellness issues * sharing information with health and social agencies * facilitating community and cultural awareness * Health education * illness prevention * crisis intervention workshops * health promotion * programming for school age children and youth, seniors as well as other identified populations Community Support Services: * helps individuals to remain in their homes for as long as possible and to share the responsibility of care provided by informal caregivers * transportation to medical appointments * friendly visiting * caregiver support (which includes support, information, education, referrals to counseling agencies) * security check/reassurance calls * aboriginal support (advocacy, referrals, resources) Other Services; * Aboriginal Healthy Baby * Healthy Children Services * Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Services For a full listing of MNO offices Click Here |
