Description (Service) | Children First provides early intervention services to families who have infants and young children with developmental behavioral and/or mental health challenges * Developmental services are provided for children up to the age of five years or school entry, and mental health services up to age six. * Services are offered in homes, in licensed child care centres and in other early childhood settings as well as at the agency office. We will partner with parents and caregivers and develop a plan together based on the strengths and needs of the family. Our Resource Consultants will provide consultation and coaching and may access support from other disciplines in our agency including: • speech and language services • occupational therapy services • social work counselling • psychology • consultation with child care centres Seminars are open to the community and participants do not need to be currently involved with the agency. Groups are offered to children, families and the larger community. These groups can be a method of treatment, a way to support the child and family, or an opportunity to connect with other parents. Social Work counselling, with a focus on a child or family’s immediate need, may be available on a short-term basis through our brief service program.
