| Description (Service) | Federal Crown corporation that provides grants and services to professional Canadian artists and arts organizations in dance, media arts, music, theatre, writing and publishing, inter-arts, and visual arts. * Maintains the secretariat for the Canadian Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) * Administers the Killam Program of scholarly awards and prizes, and offers a number of other prestigious awards. The Public Lending Right (PLR) Commission, which is operated by the Canada Council, administers a program of payments to Canadian authors for their eligible books cataloged in libraries across Canada. The Art Bank of the Canada Council rents contemporary Canadian art to the public and private sectors across Canada. |
